Thanksgiving 2010 Dave West left his job at NASA after years of resentment for the war projects he worked on. On the 4th of July 2011, Dave broke ground on his first Farm, a 10 acre gem called Hollyhill. Lisa West was one of the first volunteers to visit, and a "Natural Fit". The goal was simple, teach people how to grow food and the many layers of symbiosis. By 2012 they were featured in the San Jose Mercury News and it was like a rocket took off...
Educational Farm with Symbiotic Burials
1) Ethical and symbiotic relationship of life
2) Education to all on how to treat life ethically and symbiotically
3) Balance of symbiosis with all and NEVER bend ethically
We maintain our roots of an Educational Farm open to the public once a month and free for kids! We are expanding to include a park and natural cemetery without tombstones. People are buried here in a way that encourages symbiosis. Miles of trails welcome visitors to relax and unwind in nature. Secluded campsites offer a way for loved ones to visit and heal from their loss.
Lisa is wonderful with all creatures great and small. Her green thumb and gentle touch keep the garden running tip top. Lisa is a bibliophile who finds joy working for the Sonoma County Library. She manages the business side of things thanks to her Business Management degree from Santa Clara University.
Dave worked for Lockheed Martin while studying at Georgia Tech. Grad school at UC Irvine while working for the Air Force and Boeing. Consulting jobs for the Army Fort Novosel AL, Naval Air Station Jacksonville FL, Siemens Germany, EmCo Colombia. His last "real job" was a consultant for NASA's Flight Research Center in the Mojave desert. Since the 4th of July 2011 he's been digging harder than anyone to set an example. Dave grew tired of working on war and started an educational farm. Dave loves dogs most, but hanging out with chickens, goats, or cows comes naturally.
Rico is the quiet genius that solves technical problems. He's our Wozniak, the guy who takes a vision and connects the dots. After studying at NYU, he was involved in a startup that was bought out by Logitech. When asked to help the farm start making beer and given a budget, Rico came back with everything needed to be ordered and got the Farm making beer in time for an Award Winning Pumpkin Ale at Oktoberfest 2013.
Steve is one of the 2 nicest people you could ever meet. His inquisitive mind helped improve farm procedures to include better sanitary practices, more efficiency, and better flavor in the finished products. Prior to working at the Farm, he worked a diverse background from survey work as a chain man to a Reno Blackjack Dealer. His strength with a pick or shovel is a real asset when work is needed while his technical game theory shines with a game of Smash Bros or League of Legends.
Steve is one of the 2 nicest people you could ever meet. They both happen to be named Steve! He's a gentle soul that is great with plants. That gentle hand translates well to his art work with astounding paintings. He has a love of books, camping and beer with a dream to run a library/campground/taproom all in one.
